What is the difference between Outpatient Medical Expenses (For Accident) and Hospital & Surgical Expenses?

• Outpatient Medical Expenses (For Accident) cover medical bills for outpatient treatments that arise solely from Accident. For example, your FDW accidentally scalds her hand while cooking and requires dressing for the burn.• Hospital & Surgical Expenses cover inpatient medical bills for treatments related to both accidents and illnesses.

What are my options available if I am not at fault for the accident?

Claim directly against the Third Party who is liable for the accident. You can bring your damaged car / motorcycle to any of our Authorised Workshops or your own preferred workshop who can assist you to file the Third Party claim; orClaim Own Damage claim under your policy if you have purchased a Comprehensive coverage. You will need to pay necessary Policy Excess (if any). The workshop will then assist you to recover against the Third Party’s insurer for the Excess paid.

How should I declare my claims?

Please declare all claims (excluding windscreen claims) made against your private car insurance during the past 3 years.

What is MOM's Enhanced Medical Insurance Requirements?

Is my NCD transferable?

In principle, your NCD applies to you and not to your vehicle. For example, if you sell your vehicle and buy another one, you will retain your NCD. However, if you own more than one vehicle, you might have a different NCD for each vehicle. You should check the details with your insurer, but generally: Your NCD can- - Be transferred if you decide to switch insurer. - Be transferred to another vehicle you own, but it cannot be applied to more than one vehicle at any point in time. For example, if you have accumulated a 30% NCD while using one vehicle, it does not follow that the same NCD applies to any other vehicle that you own or decide to buy. In other words, you will have to earn the NCD for each vehicle separately Your NCD cannot- - be transferred to another person, except for your spouse and within the current insurer only. Transfer of NCD to your spouse will not be applicable if you renew your policy with another insurer.

Can I buy Waiver of Counter Indemnity after my policy has incepted?

No, you are not able to purchase the Waiver of Counter Indemnity after policy has incepted.

How do I determine the effective date of the policy?

Here's how you can determine the effective date based on each situation:For New FDW:The policy's effective date should be the date your FDW arrives in Singapore. This ensures that insurance coverage begins when the FDW starts her employment duties upon arrival in the country.For Transferred FDW:The policy's effective date should be the day you wish to apply for the issuance of her work permit at MOM. This ensures that insurance coverage is in place when the FDW's work permit is processed and approved for transfer to your employment.For Renewal FDW:The policy's effective date should be one day after the current work permit's expiry date. This ensures that insurance coverage seamlessly continues without any gaps when renewing the FDW's work permit for continued employment.

What are the payment methods available?

What is a Security Bond?

A Security Bond is a commitment to reimburse the government if either you or your FDW violates or fail to adhere to the terms and conditions of the work permit. This bond typically takes the form of a banker's or insurer's guarantee. For each FDW you employ (excluding Malaysian helpers), you are required to purchase a $5,000 security bond.

Are pre-existing medical conditions covered?

It is only covered under Hospital & Surgical Expenses if the FDW had been under your employment for more than 12 months.

Does your Motorcycle insurance cover usage of motorcycle for food, parcel or other delivery services?

We do not cover usage for food, parcel or other delivery services.

What is “Excess” in a motor policy?

Excess, also known as the deductible, is the first amount of the claim that the policyholder needs to bear in view of the claim.

What is NCD? How does it work?

A No-Claim Discount (‘NCD’) is an entitlement given to you if no claim has been made under your policy for a year or more with the current/existing insurer. It reduces the premium you have to pay for the following year. This is your insurer's way of recognising and rewarding you for having been a careful driver. There is a standard followed by all insurers in setting the NCD, depending on your type of vehicle (private, commercial or motorcycle) and the period of insurance with no claim. The following table shows how the NCD is set by all insurers across the industry. Private Car Period of insurance with no claim Discount on renewal 1 year 10% 2 years 20% 3 years 30% 4 years 40% 5 years or longer 50% Motorcycle/Commercial Vehicle Period of insurance with no claim Discount on renewal 1 year 10% 2 years 15% 3 years or longer 20%

Can I include a named driver in my Private Motor Car insurance policy?

Yes, you can include as many named drivers as you want in your Private Motor Car insurance policy subject to underwriting and additional premium.

Who must be present and what documents are required for the accident reporting?

The driver involved in the accident must report personally, with a copy of the Driving License and NRIC, and the certificate of insurance to the Accident Reporting Centres. The vehicle must also be made available for photo-taking at the time of reporting.

If the policyholder experience an accident claim on the Comprehensive Family NCD Builder Plan what will happen to all the Family NCD members who are in the policy?

All earned Family-NCD will be reduced according to the GIA NCD framework (https://gia.org.sg/). However, with the Family NCD benefit still in place, it means all the Family NCD members can continue to earn 10% with each year of safe driving (max at 50%).
