Will I lose my NCD if there is a break in ownership of my vehicle?

Most insurers in Singapore will allow you to keep your NCD should there be a break in vehicle ownership for up to 24 months. Some insurers set the timeframe at 12 months. You should contact your insurer for details.

Who is eligible for ECICS Personal Accident (Junior) Insurance?

The Insured Person must be: - the natural child, legal step-child, legally adopted child or ward of the Policyholder; and - age above 1 month old and under 21 years as at the time of the application for the Policy if the Insured Person was not enrolled in a tertiary institution as at that time. If the Insured Person was enrolled in a tertiary institution as at the time of the application for the Policy, he or she must be of an Age under 25 years as at that time; and - unmarried as at the time of the application for the Policy and remains unmarried throughout the Period of Insurance.

What is a Non-Motor Excess Protector insurance?

ECICS Non-Motor Excess Protector Insurance reimburses the excess amount you are required to pay under your non-motor insurance policy when you make a claim. This includes, but is not limited to, policies such as Fire, Public Liability, and Contractors All Risks insurance.

Do I still need to pay $5,000 to MOM when I’ve already purchased the Security Bond?

No, you do not need to pay $5,000 upfront to MOM as we act as a guarantor by issuing a Letter of Guarantee to MOM on your behalf. However, if you or your FDW breaches any of MOM’s rules or conditions, MOM may forfeit the bond and demand for payment from ECICS. In such cases, we will seek recovery of the amount from you.

If I have 2 policies (2 vehicles) insured with ECICS and bought Family NCD plans with a member appearing in both policies. What will happen if one of the policy experiences an accident claim by the Family NCD member (named driver)?

The policy that experiences the accident claim will have the entire group of Family NCD members' (named drivers) Family-NCD reduced according to the GIA NCD framework (https://gia.org.sg/). We believe that promoting safe driving is a family affair. However, the other policy with us will not be affected, all earned Family-NCDs in that policy will remain intact.

Can I make amendments to the policy after I’ve purchased the insurance?

Certain amendments (e.g., typo error in name or passport number or change in effective date) can be made before the policy effective date. However, a re-transmission to MOM may be required depending on the type of amendment.

If I cancel my policy, will I be entitled to a refund?

Is there any coverage for Outpatient Medical Expenses (For Illness)?

Yes, we offer it as an optional add-on that covers outpatient medical expenses for illness that does not require hospitalisation. This benefit can cover up to $60 per visit, helping to ensure your FDW’s health needs are taken care of without added financial strain.

Why is the policy not exactly 12 or 24 months?

The coverage period for our Enhanced MaidAssure is 14 months or 26 months with the additional 2 months included as mandated by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) in case the FDW overstays in Singapore after her work permit expires.

Does your Motorcycle insurance cover usage of motorcycle for food, parcel or other delivery services?

We do not cover usage for food, parcel or other delivery services.

What is “Excess” in a motor policy?

Excess, also known as the deductible, is the first amount of the claim that the policyholder needs to bear in view of the claim.

What is NCD? How does it work?

A No-Claim Discount (‘NCD’) is an entitlement given to you if no claim has been made under your policy for a year or more with the current/existing insurer. It reduces the premium you have to pay for the following year. This is your insurer's way of recognising and rewarding you for having been a careful driver. There is a standard followed by all insurers in setting the NCD, depending on your type of vehicle (private, commercial or motorcycle) and the period of insurance with no claim. The following table shows how the NCD is set by all insurers across the industry. Can I include a named driver in my Private Motor Car insurance policy?

Yes, you can include as many named drivers as you want in your Private Motor Car insurance policy subject to underwriting and additional premium.

Who must be present and what documents are required for the accident reporting?

The driver involved in the accident must report personally, with a copy of the Driving License and NRIC, and the certificate of insurance to the Accident Reporting Centres. The vehicle must also be made available for photo-taking at the time of reporting.

If the policyholder experience an accident claim on the Comprehensive Family NCD Builder Plan what will happen to all the Family NCD members who are in the policy?

All earned Family-NCD will be reduced according to the GIA NCD framework (https://gia.org.sg/). However, with the Family NCD benefit still in place, it means all the Family NCD members can continue to earn 10% with each year of safe driving (max at 50%).
